Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 is out. Here are the essentials.
Release date and platforms
Modern Warfare 4 launched on October 23, 2026 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC (Battle.net, Steam and Xbox on PC) and Nintendo Switch 2. Pre-orders of the Standard Digital and Vault editions got campaign early access from October 16. It is the first Call of Duty to skip PS4 and Xbox One entirely.
Campaign
The story is set during a war on the Korean Peninsula. You play as Private Park, a young South Korean soldier, while Captain Price works outside the system to stop a weapon that could start a global war. Missions move from Korea to New York, Paris and Mumbai.
Multiplayer
Infinity Ward focuses on grounded, precise gunplay with a system it calls Ballistic Authority. Launch includes 12 core maps plus Kill Block, a map that rearranges itself between rounds across more than 500 layouts.
DMZ and Warzone
The DMZ extraction mode returns, with shifting conditions each deployment. Warzone integration comes with Season 1.
Switch 2
This is the first Call of Duty on a Nintendo console since Ghosts in 2013.
