All toolsFrequently asked questions about Cyberpunk 2077
Is Cyberpunk 2077 on Xbox?
Yes, on Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One. Only the Series X|S version has Update 2.0 and Phantom Liberty.
Does Cyberpunk 2077 run at 60fps on Xbox Series X?
Yes, in performance mode. The ray tracing mode runs at 30fps.
Are there cheat codes in Cyberpunk 2077?
Not officially. PC players use the unofficial Cyberpunk Engine Tweaks mod to get a cheat console. There are no cheats on consoles.
Is Phantom Liberty worth it?
Phantom Liberty is widely praised. It adds a spy-thriller story with Idris Elba, the Dogtown district, new gear and a new ending. It needs the PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC or Switch 2 version of the game.
Is Cyberpunk 2077 on Switch 2?
Yes. Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition, which includes Phantom Liberty, launched on Nintendo Switch 2 on June 5, 2025.
How many endings does Cyberpunk 2077 have?
The base game has several main endings that depend on choices made near the end and your relationships with certain characters. Phantom Liberty adds another.
Cyberpunk 2077 is an open-world action RPG from CD Projekt Red, the studio behind The Witcher 3. You play V, a mercenary in Night City, a megacity ruled by corporations and gangs. A heist goes wrong and leaves V with a biochip carrying the digital ghost of rockerboy Johnny Silverhand, played by Keanu Reeves, which is slowly taking over V’s mind.
The game launched on December 10, 2020 to a troubled console release, then was rebuilt over several years. Update 2.0 and the Phantom Liberty expansion (September 26, 2023) overhauled skills, cyberware, police and combat. The Ultimate Edition reached Nintendo Switch 2 on June 5, 2025, and the game has sold well over 30 million copies.
Key facts
- Three lifepaths (Nomad, Streetkid, Corpo) change V’s opening and some dialogue.
- Builds are made from five attributes (Body, Reflexes, Technical Ability, Intelligence, Cool), perks and cyberware.
- Several endings depend on your choices and relationships.
Cyberpunk 2077 on Xbox
Cyberpunk 2077 is available on Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One, but the experience is very different between them. The Xbox Series X|S version, released as a free upgrade in February 2022, is the one to play: it includes Update 2.0, the reworked skill trees, the new police and vehicle combat systems, and the Phantom Liberty expansion. The Xbox One version stopped receiving major content with the move to current-gen, and Phantom Liberty and Update 2.0 are not available on it. If you bought the game on Xbox One, you get the Series X|S version free through Smart Delivery, along with your saves.
Cyberpunk 2077 on Xbox Series X
On Xbox Series X, Cyberpunk 2077 offers a performance mode that targets 60fps at a dynamic resolution and a ray tracing mode at 30fps with ray-traced shadows and reflections. Most players prefer performance mode for smoother driving and gunfights. Load times are short thanks to the SSD, and the game supports Quick Resume. The Xbox Series S version runs at a lower resolution and targets 30fps in its main mode, with a smoother option at reduced detail.
Is Cyberpunk 2077 on Game Pass?
Cyberpunk 2077 has not been a permanent part of Xbox Game Pass, although it is often discounted on the Xbox store during sales. The Ultimate Edition, which bundles the base game and Phantom Liberty, is the best-value way to buy it on Xbox. Check the Xbox store for the current price, and see Xbox deals and sales for the sale calendar.
Phantom Liberty
Phantom Liberty is Cyberpunk 2077’s only expansion. It adds Dogtown, a walled-off district of Night City, and a spy thriller story starring Idris Elba as FIA agent Solomon Reed. It also adds new endings for the main game, the Relic skill tree, new weapons, cyberware and vehicles. Most players and critics consider it essential, and it is the main reason to play on current-generation consoles rather than Xbox One.
Getting started in Night City
Choose your lifepath based on the opening you want: Nomad starts in the Badlands, Streetkid in the streets of Night City and Corpo in Arasaka’s offices. The choice changes your first hour and some dialogue, but not the main story. Pick two or three attributes to focus on early, because spreading points thinly makes V weaker. Netrunner builds with high Intelligence hack enemies from a distance, Reflexes builds excel with blades and assault rifles, and Body builds turn V into a tank with shotguns and heavy weapons. Our Cyberpunk 2077 beginner builds and lifepaths guide explain each option.
Cyberpunk 2077 performance tips on Xbox
- Use performance mode on Xbox Series X and turn off film grain and chromatic aberration for a cleaner image.
- Lower the vehicle camera height if driving feels floaty.
- Keep the game installed on internal storage or an expansion card for the fastest loading.
- Save manually before major missions; the game has multiple endings and some choices lock you out of content.
What comes next
CD Projekt Red has confirmed a sequel, codenamed Project Orion, in development, but it is years away. Until then, Cyberpunk 2077 continues to receive occasional updates, and the Nintendo Switch 2 version brought the full Ultimate Edition to a portable system in 2025.
Night City districts
Night City is split into districts, each with its own look, gangs and side jobs. Watson is the cramped starting district, home to the Tyger Claws and Maelstrom. Westbrook includes Japantown and the luxury of Charter Hill and North Oak. City Center is the corporate heart, with Arasaka Tower and the skyscrapers of Corpo Plaza. Heywood is controlled by the Valentinos, while Santo Domingo is an industrial zone run by the 6th Street gang. Pacifica is an abandoned resort taken over by the Voodoo Boys, and Dogtown, added in Phantom Liberty, is a walled military zone ruled by Kurt Hansen. Beyond the city lie the Badlands, the desert home of the Aldecaldos nomads.
Romance options
V can romance four main characters depending on V’s body type and voice: Judy Alvarez, Panam Palmer, River Ward and Kerry Eurodyne. Each romance follows a long side-quest chain and affects some ending scenes. There are also short relationships with characters such as Meredith Stout. Romances are a big part of why many players replay the game.
Endings without spoilers
Cyberpunk 2077 has several main endings, plus an extra ending added by Phantom Liberty. Which ones you can reach depends on your relationships with key characters and the choices you make in the final mission. Completing the main side stories of Panam, Judy, Kerry and Rogue opens more options. If you want to see every ending, make a manual save before the point of no return, which the game clearly warns you about.
Xbox achievements and completion time
The main story takes around 25 to 30 hours, and finishing the main story plus major side quests takes about 60 hours. A full completion, including Phantom Liberty and every achievement, can take more than 100 hours. Several achievements are tied to specific endings, so plan to replay the final mission from your manual save to unlock them all. Achievements are shared between the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S versions.
Is Cyberpunk 2077 worth playing in 2026?
Yes. The version you can play today is very different from the troubled 2020 launch. Update 2.0 rebuilt the skill trees, cyberware and police, vehicle combat was added, and Phantom Liberty delivered one of the best expansions of recent years. On Xbox Series X, PS5 and PC it runs well and looks excellent, and it is frequently discounted. If you skipped it at launch because of the bugs, now is the right time to start. Pick the Ultimate Edition to get the base game and Phantom Liberty together, and plan for a long, story-heavy adventure with plenty of side content in every district of Night City.
