All nine missions in order, with what happens in each
Battlefield 6 brings a linear single-player campaign back to the series after Battlefield 2042 shipped without one. There are no side quests. The story follows the threat of Pax Armata and moves across the globe, and the official list was confirmed by Battlefield Studios before launch. Here is each mission with its setting and main objectives, kept free of major plot spoilers.
1. Always Faithful
The opener starts during an assault on a base, moves through a warehouse area and a forest above a data center construction site, and ends with a helicopter evacuation. You survive the attack, ride a vehicle gun section, mark three tanks for an airstrike, plant C-4 in a server room and hold a corner until evac arrives. It is one of the shortest missions and can be finished in under 30 minutes.
2. The Rock
You play as Gecko, a Recon soldier, supporting Lancer squad in a fortified Pax-held area with tunnels, a gatehouse, a World War II museum and a battery with an anti-aircraft gun. You clear a roadblock from high ground, snipe from the gatehouse, cover a push from a tower, fight through tunnels, destroy the AAA gun with explosives and finally take down a helicopter with an RPG before signalling the fleet from a cliff. Sniper overwatch and destructible tunnel walls are the key mechanics.
3. Operation Gladius
A beach assault followed by street fighting ending at city hall. You shoot sea mines from a vehicle gun during the crossing, clear the beach, hold a concrete base against a wave, clear a parking lot and rooftops so your tank can join, advance through the streets, secure a courtyard and clear city hall up to the northern room. You use the vehicle grenade launcher, the repair tool for the tank, C4 against armored vehicles and squad commands.
4. Night Raid
Set in Cairo at night. You enter the sewers with night vision, take down guards with melee and a synchronized takedown, enter a palace, meet an informant, escape the burning palace, fight through a souk to a plaza and hold it until extraction before destroying a helicopter. It is a stealth-heavy mission, and the helicopter takes three direct RPG hits.
5. No Sleep
Set in Brooklyn, with apartments, subway tunnels, a construction site and a wrecked train on a bridge. You follow Sergeant Acre, blast a wall with C4, disarm wall-mounted bombs while avoiding red laser tripwires, chase a train through collapsing walls, destroy armored vehicles at a construction site and reach a bridge by small helicopter before turning off computers Murphy points to.
6. Moving Mountains
Another Brooklyn mission, in a densely populated area including Prospect Park, a fire department and the Empire Fulton forward base. You protect the president, clear drones from a roof, hunt three drone operators with Gecko recon ping, plant C4 at a tunnel, defend the president vehicle from a turret on rails, cross a wrecked subway with night vision and hold the forward base against armored assaults.
7. Nile Guard
You start inside a tank on a highway with two bridges and a city and bazaar. You destroy enemy armor, repair at stations, boost through the bazaar to collapse its pillars, exit the tank to save Captain Yasta and pull a pilot from a downed helicopter. It is the shortest mission and is mostly spent inside the tank.
8. Operation Ember Strike
An open map with an old fort, SAM sites, a power station and a dam, played as Gecko. You use a drone to clear enemies, take an ATV to the fort, destroy anti-air guns at three SAM sites while breaking alarm speakers to limit reinforcements, use Hemlock mortar against vehicles, clear a power station ambush and then cross and clear the dam.
9. Always Forward
The finale takes place in a Pax encampment and base leading to a bunker and the missile sites. You push through using squad orders, wait for Gecko airstrike, use tanks for cover, shoot down a jet with an anti-air launcher, take a tank to the next site, clear the bunker, ride an elevator, find Kincaid and sprint to a helipad.
How long is the campaign?
Most guides put it at about 5 to 6 hours on normal difficulty, and 4 to 10 hours as the full range. Most missions take 30 to 45 minutes. Nile Guard is the shortest because you spend it in a tank, and the longer missions run about an hour. Replaying missions to find dog tags adds time.
Dog tags and collectibles
The campaign hides thirty dog tags. Missions have two to four, with the tank mission having just two. Tags sit on non-destructible surfaces or are stuck to walls, sometimes with a knife. Nothing is missable, because you can replay any mission from the campaign menu. Finding all thirty unlocks the Pack Leader trophy or achievement and a special dog tag. There is also a hidden toy T-Rex early in the story.
Difficulty and playstyle
The campaign is strictly linear. Several missions let you choose between loud and quiet play, and stealth takedowns work by crouching and pressing the melee input. The hardest difficulty unlocks a weapon package as a reward. Because the campaign uses the same guns as multiplayer, it is a safe place to try the weapons and learn recoil.
Tips for each mission
- The Rock: use the high ground to thin enemies before you descend, grab the rocket launcher early, and blast through walls for alternate routes.
- Operation Gladius: keep the tank repaired, watch windows for enemy engineers and recon, and do not overextend in the courtyard.
- Night Raid: stay in shadows during the stealth phase, loot the shops in the plaza, and reload and fire from the stairs after the helicopter circles.
- No Sleep: advance carefully because many enemies are tough, use bricks and walls for cover at the construction site, and avoid being downed repeatedly.
- Moving Mountains: identify the drone operators by their unique icon, use buildings for cover at the forward base and keep squad commands active.
- Nile Guard: watch for anti-tank infantry in buildings and let allied tanks lead fights.
- Operation Ember Strike: clear each site fully before moving on, stock up on supplies at each location and use the drone from safe spots.
- Always Forward: shoot red barrels near enemies, use tanks as cover while they last, and direct Hemlock to breach the bunker wall if needed.
What the campaign teaches you for multiplayer
The campaign works as a training ground. You use tanks and repair tools in Gladius and Nile Guard, which mirrors the Engineer class. Gecko sniping and recon marking in The Rock and Moving Mountains mirror Recon. Squad orders in Gladius and Always Forward teach you to use teammates, and C4 breaching in No Sleep and Moving Mountains shows how demolition works. If you plan to play Conquest, finish the campaign first and you will arrive with working knowledge of most gadgets.
Is there co-op?
No. The campaign is single-player only.
