Every Murder Mystery 2 round hands out three roles at random. Knowing how each one wins makes you better at all of them.

Innocent

Most of the lobby is Innocent. You have no weapon, so your goal is to stay alive until the timer runs out. Collect coins while you move, because they pay for crates later. Stay near other players and keep an eye on anyone who wanders off alone.

Sheriff

The Sheriff gets a gun and one job: shoot the Murderer. The catch is that shooting an Innocent kills you both. Wait for proof, such as seeing the knife out or catching someone next to a fresh body, before you fire.

Murderer

The Murderer has a knife that can stab or be thrown. You win by eliminating everyone before time runs out. Act Innocent at the start, pick off players who are alone, and go after the Sheriff once you know who it is.

Hero

When the Sheriff dies, the gun drops. The first Innocent to grab it becomes the Hero. If you see the gun icon and the Murderer is chasing someone else, it is usually worth going for it.

The biggest mistakes

  • Sheriffs shooting on a hunch and taking an Innocent with them.
  • Innocents standing still in open rooms.
  • Murderers chasing one player across the map while the Sheriff lines up a shot.
