The Switch 2 keeps the hybrid idea of the Switch and improves almost everything.

What is new

  • A larger, roughly 7.9 inch 1080p screen with up to 120 Hz.
  • Up to 4K output when docked.
  • 256 GB of built-in storage, expandable with microSD Express cards.
  • Joy-Con 2 controllers that attach magnetically and work as a mouse.
  • GameChat for voice and video chat, opened with the new C button.

Backwards compatibility

Most Switch 1 games work on the Switch 2, and some get free or paid Switch 2 Edition upgrades with better performance.

Should you upgrade?

If you play your Switch a lot, yes: games look and run much better, and new Switch 2 exclusives need it. If you only play occasionally, there is no rush, since most of your library still works on the original.
