An introduction to Rust raiding: tools, explosives and how to protect your own base.

Raiding is the heart of Rust’s endgame. Here is how it works.

Raiding tools

  • Satchel charges: cheap explosives that are good on wooden doors and walls.
  • C4: the standard tool for stone and metal.
  • Rockets: strong all-round explosives, also useful against vehicles.
  • Explosive ammo: lets you finish damaged structures with a rifle.

Find the weak point

Doors are usually weaker than walls. Look for wooden doors, twig parts or a way to reach the Tool Cupboard that crosses the fewest walls.

Protect yourself

  • Use armoured or sheet-metal doors.
  • Build airlocks (two doors in a row) at every entrance.
  • Honeycomb your core with extra walls so raiders need more explosives.
  • Split loot between several boxes in different rooms.

Raid timing

Most raids happen while defenders are offline. Raiding a base at night with the owners online is risky. Check your server’s rules, as some community servers limit raiding times.
