Who is Devin Weston?
Devin is a wealthy investor who buys companies, strips them and sells them for profit. He is obsessed with money, status and winning, and he treats everyone around him, including his assistant Molly, with contempt. He loves expensive cars and toys and believes his wealth puts him above the law. Rockstar uses him to satirize the ultra-rich, tech investors and corporate raiders, and his dialogue is full of buzzwords and self-praise.
Devin’s car theft jobs
Devin first hires the protagonists to steal a collection of rare and expensive cars for him, offering a big payout. The crew track down and steal the cars across Los Santos and Blaine County, often from heavily guarded locations. When the job is done, Devin refuses to pay what he promised, claiming the deal changed. This sets up the protagonists’ hatred of him and is one of the reasons he becomes a target at the end.
Devin and Michael’s film career
Michael’s side story with film producer Solomon Richards and the movie Meltdown collides with Devin when Devin tries to take over the film studio and the movie for himself. Molly Schultz tries to steal the film reels for Devin, and Michael chases her to the airport, where she dies in a gruesome accident with a jet engine. This deepens the conflict between Michael and Devin, who blames Michael and wants revenge.
Devin and Merryweather
Devin has close ties to Merryweather Security, the private military company that becomes an enemy of the protagonists after Trevor’s actions in The Merryweather Heist. Devin uses Merryweather muscle against the crew, and in the finale Merryweather soldiers are part of the forces sent after them. This connection shows how Devin uses money to buy violence and protection.
Devin and the endings
At the end of the story, Devin approaches Franklin and demands that he kill Michael, while FIB agent Steve Haines asks him to kill Trevor. If Franklin agrees to Devin’s demand, this leads to The Time’s Come (Ending B), where Franklin chases Michael to the Palmer-Taylor Power Station and Michael dies. Devin survives in Endings A and B.
Devin’s death in Ending C
In The Third Way (Ending C), the three protagonists refuse both demands and go after their enemies. After the others are eliminated, Michael, Franklin and Trevor kidnap Devin from his mansion, lock him in the trunk of a car, and push the car off a cliff into the ocean. It is one of the most satisfying ends for a villain in the series, and since Ending C is canon, Devin is dead in the main GTA continuity.
Devin’s personality
Devin is loud, arrogant and endlessly self-centered. He brags about his wealth, uses business jargon in every conversation and treats people as disposable. He is also petty: he holds grudges, refuses to pay debts and expects others to clean up his messes. His over-the-top personality is part of what makes him so fun to dislike.
Why Devin matters to the story
Devin represents a different kind of villain from Haines. Haines is the corrupt state; Devin is corrupt money. Together they show the protagonists squeezed between powerful institutions that use criminals and discard them. Defeating both in Ending C is the protagonists’ way of taking back control, which is why that ending feels so rewarding. Devin’s role also connects GTA 5’s car culture and Hollywood satire to its larger story about greed.
Molly Schultz
Molly is Devin’s assistant and lawyer, who handles his dirty work. She is efficient and cold, and she follows Devin’s orders even when they are illegal. Her chase with Michael at Los Santos International Airport, ending with her death in a jet engine, is one of the most shocking moments in the game.
Fun facts
- Devin’s trunk ending in Ending C is one of the most quoted villain deaths in GTA history.
- Devin’s expensive car tastes connect him to GTA’s long tradition of car theft missions.
- He refers to himself and his deals with constant business buzzwords, a running joke in his dialogue.

Devin’s supercar list
The car theft jobs for Devin are a highlight for car lovers. The protagonists steal some of the rarest vehicles in the game, including classic sports cars and modern supercars kept in private garages, at a movie set and even moving on the road. Each theft is a small mission with its own twist: avoiding security, chasing down a car being driven, or getting a car out of a guarded location without damage. The variety makes these jobs feel like a mini heist series, and the payoff, Devin refusing to pay, turns the whole thing into a setup for revenge.
How Devin satirizes the ultra-rich
Rockstar writes Devin as a parody of the kind of investor who sees everything as a deal and everyone as an asset. He brags about firing people, buying and destroying companies and living without consequences. His mansion, cars and staff are all status symbols. The game invites players to enjoy taking him down because he represents everything the protagonists, and many players, resent: wealth without responsibility. This is consistent with GTA 5’s broader satire of Los Santos as a city of image and money.
Devin vs the other villains
GTA 5 has several antagonists: Steve Haines and the FIB, Devin Weston, Martin Madrazo, the IAA, Merryweather, Wei Cheng and Stretch. Devin is the most personal for Michael because of the film studio feud and Molly’s death, while Haines is the most personal for Trevor and Franklin because of the blackmail. Ending C lets the crew deal with almost all of them, which is why it is the fan favorite.
Where to find Devin
Devin appears mostly in cutscenes and phone calls rather than free roam. His mansion is the setting for the final part of Ending C, where the crew break in and take him from his home. If you replay the finale, you can explore his house briefly before the kidnapping.
Devin Weston quotes and memorable moments
Devin’s dialogue is full of arrogant one-liners about money, deals and winning, which fans quote often. His scenes with Michael in the film studio and his exchange with Franklin at the end are the most remembered, and his over-the-top confidence makes his fall in Ending C feel especially satisfying. If you replay the final missions, pay attention to how often he mentions that rules do not apply to him, which is exactly what the protagonists make him regret.
