Chaos Cubed (Java 26.2)
Chaos Cubed, the second Minecraft drop of 2026, added the Sulfur Caves biome, the block-absorbing Sulfur Cube, two new block sets and the Bounce music disc.
Chaos Cubed is the second Minecraft game drop of 2026. It released on June 16, 2026 as Java Edition 26.2 and Bedrock Edition 26.30. It adds an underground biome, the Sulfur Caves, and a physics-based mob, the Sulfur Cube, whose behaviour changes depending on the block it swallows.

Sulfur Caves
Sulfur Caves are a new cave biome under the Overworld, coloured by yellow sulfur and red cinnabar. Watch out for:
- Sulfur pools: pools fed by potent sulfur give off gas that inflicts Nausea on players and mobs in the water.
- Geysers: they launch whatever stands on them, including several Sulfur Cubes at once.
- Sulfur spikes on floors and ceilings.
- Cave spiders: for the first time, they spawn naturally outside mineshaft spawners here.
The Sulfur Cube
The Sulfur Cube is a passive mob that spawns in Sulfur Caves. It follows players who hold a block it can absorb, and once it absorbs one, its physical behaviour changes:
- with ice it slides, and blue ice makes it shoot along like an engine;
- with some blocks it bounces or floats;
- with magma it deals fire damage on contact;
- with TNT it becomes a moving explosive. Once primed by fire, redstone or a nearby blast, it cannot be sheared, picked up or damaged before it detonates.
You can carry one home with a Bucket of Sulfur Cube, and Creative players get a Sulfur Cube spawn egg.
New building blocks
- Sulfur set: sulfur, polished sulfur, sulfur bricks and chiseled sulfur, each with stairs, slabs and walls, plus potent sulfur and sulfur spikes.
- Cinnabar set: cinnabar, polished cinnabar, cinnabar bricks and chiseled cinnabar, with matching stairs, slabs and walls.
Music
A new music disc, “Bounce”, can be found in minecarts with chests in abandoned mineshafts inside Sulfur Caves. The drop also adds new background music by fingerspit.
Edition-specific features
- Java: Friends List. A friends list in the title screen and pause menu, with settings for visibility, requests and notifications.
- Java: experimental Vulkan renderer. Choose it under the Graphics API option. If you see visual bugs or lower frame rates, set it back to Default or Prefer OpenGL.
- Bedrock: Chaos Spreads challenge. A community goal that, if reached, unlocks the free Chaos Cubed: The Game Show mini-game world for all Bedrock players.
