The Buzzard Attack Chopper is one of the most useful and most popular vehicles in Grand Theft Auto V. Built by Nagasaki, it is a small, fast, agile military helicopter armed with miniguns and homing missiles, which makes it perfect for clearing enemies, escaping the police and getting across San Andreas quickly. In story mode, you can spawn one instantly with a cheat, and in GTA Online it is a staple for CEOs and heist players. This wiki page covers the Buzzard’s cheat codes on every platform, its weapons and handling, where to find or buy it, how to use it well and FAQs.

Buzzard cheat code
In GTA 5 story mode, you can spawn a Buzzard right next to you with a cheat. It works best in an open area or on a road, because the helicopter appears beside you and needs space for its rotors.
| Platform | Cheat |
|---|---|
| PC (type in the ~ console) | BUZZOFF |
| PlayStation (PS5, PS4) | Circle, Circle, L1, Circle, Circle, Circle, L1, L2, R1, Triangle, Circle, Triangle |
| Xbox (Series X|S, One) | B, B, LB, B, B, B, LB, LT, RB, Y, B, Y |
| In-game phone (all platforms) | 1-999-2899633 |
On PlayStation and Xbox, enter the button sequence quickly during gameplay without pausing. On PC, press the tilde key to open the console and type the code. On any platform, open the in-game phone, choose the keypad and dial the number. Cheats only work in story mode, not in GTA Online, and using a cheat disables trophies and achievements until you reload a save. For more codes, see GTA 5 vehicle cheats and using cheats safely.
Weapons and handling
The Buzzard’s two weapon systems make it a flying gunship:
- Miniguns: rapid-fire guns that shred cars, pedestrians and lightly armored targets. Great for steady damage.
- Homing missiles: lock on to vehicles and aircraft and track them. Excellent for taking out police helicopters, enemy jets and cars during chases.
Switch between weapons with the weapon select button while flying. The Buzzard is quick to accelerate and turns sharply, which makes it easy to fly for beginners compared with larger helicopters. Its small size lets it land on rooftops, in streets and in tight spaces. The trade-off is armor: a few rockets or sustained fire from the ground can bring it down, so keep moving and avoid hovering in one place under fire.
Where to find or buy a Buzzard
Story mode
- Cheat: the fastest way, using BUZZOFF or the console sequence above.
- Missions: Buzzards appear in several missions, often as the vehicle you fly or the one attacking you.
- Military and Merryweather areas: attack helicopters can appear around military locations and in Merryweather encounters.
Helicopters you want to keep in story mode should be stored at a helipad or hangar property owned by the character.
GTA Online
- Buy: the Buzzard Attack Chopper can be purchased from the Warstock Cache and Carry website and stored at a hangar or helipad.
- CEO request: if you are registered as a CEO, you can request a Buzzard through the SecuroServ menu for a small fee, without owning one. This is one of the best perks of being a CEO. See how to register as a CEO.
Best uses for the Buzzard
- Fast travel: cross the map in a minute or two without traffic.
- Escaping the police: fly out of a wanted area and break line of sight; use missiles on police helicopters.
- Gang attacks and missions: clear enemies from the air before landing.
- Heist preps in GTA Online: reach setup locations quickly and provide air support.
- Collectibles: reach hard-to-access spots such as rooftops and mountain tops.
- Fort Zancudo: fly near the base, though its defenses will target you. See Fort Zancudo.
Flying tips
- Gain altitude quickly to avoid power lines and trees, which can clip your rotors.
- Use homing missiles on air targets and miniguns on ground targets.
- Do not hover over enemies with rocket launchers; strafe around them instead.
- Land gently: helicopters can explode if they hit the ground too hard.
- Use the first-person view for precise minigun aiming.
- Trevor has the best flying skill in story mode, so the Buzzard handles most smoothly with him; see Trevor.

Buzzard in GTA Online heists and businesses
In GTA Online, the Buzzard is a favorite support vehicle. During the original heists, one player often flies a Buzzard to cover teammates on the ground, taking out enemy vehicles with missiles. In business sell missions, a Buzzard lets a teammate clear threats along the delivery route. CEOs use it constantly because requesting one costs very little and it appears close to the player, saving minutes on every trip. Many experienced players keep a Buzzard request as their go-to way of getting around the map, especially when traveling between businesses.
Defending against a Buzzard
If another player attacks you in a Buzzard in GTA Online, homing launchers, explosive rounds and armored vehicles are the best answers. The Buzzard’s light armor means a single well-aimed homing missile from the ground can often destroy it. Hiding in buildings or tunnels breaks the pilot’s line of sight. In story mode, enemies in Buzzards appear during some missions, and the same tactics apply: take cover, then fire rockets or heavy weapons when it slows down to aim.
Using the Buzzard for missions in story mode
Spawning a Buzzard before a mission that ends with a long drive can save time, though the game sometimes forces you into a specific vehicle at mission start. In free roam, it is ideal for rampage-style fun, chasing down gang members, or just exploring the beautiful landscape of Blaine County from above. Flying low over the Alamo Sea or along the coast at sunset is one of the most scenic experiences in the game.
Cheat tips for the Buzzard
Spawn it in an open area such as an empty parking lot, field or helipad, so the rotors are not damaged when it appears. If the helicopter spawns on a slope or in traffic, it may tip over or explode. On consoles, practice the button sequence slowly first: many players miss a button and think the cheat does not work.
Few vehicles in GTA 5 are as useful or as fun as the Buzzard, so keep the cheat handy in story mode and request one often as a CEO in GTA Online.
