Minecraft effect command generator
Give or clear any status effect with the right level and duration for Java Edition or Bedrock Edition, including infinite effects.
How the minecraft effect command generator works
Pick Java or Bedrock, who gets the effect, which effect, the level and how long it lasts. The tool turns the level you see in game into the amplifier the command uses, which is one lower: Speed II is amplifier 1. Choose Infinite for an effect that never runs out, or Custom seconds for a number of your own.
You can also build commands that clear one effect or all effects, and a switch hides the particles so the effect is not distracting.
Worked example
Night Vision for yourself with no particles: Java /effect give @s night_vision infinite 0 true and Bedrock /effect @s night_vision infinite 0 true. Speed III for 60 seconds is /effect give @s speed 60 2 in Java.
Java Edition and Bedrock Edition
Java uses /effect give and /effect clear. Bedrock puts the player first, with /effect player effect and /effect player clear. The Infinite duration needs Java 1.19.4 or Bedrock 1.20.0 and newer. A few effects in the list are marked Java because Bedrock does not have them.
Frequently asked questions
Why is the amplifier one lower than the level?
The game counts from 0. Level I is amplifier 0, level II is amplifier 1, and so on. The generator does the subtraction for you.
How do I remove all effects?
Use /effect clear @s on Java or /effect @s clear on Bedrock. Pick Clear all effects in the Action box to get the right one.
What is the longest an effect can last?
On Java the duration can be up to 1,000,000 seconds. For anything longer, use infinite.
Can I give an effect to every player?
Yes. Use @a as the target, for example /effect give @a regeneration 30 1 on Java.
