Minecraft potion command generator

How the minecraft potion command generator works

Choose the potion type, add up to four effects with a level and a length in seconds, pick a bottle color and give it a name. The tool writes a /give command that makes the potion exactly as you set it, including combinations the brewing stand cannot make, such as Speed and Strength in one bottle.

Splash and lingering potions and tipped arrows apply less of the duration than a drinkable potion, which is how the game works: about three quarters for splash, a quarter for lingering and one eighth for tipped arrows.

Worked example

A one-hour Night Vision potion: choose Drinkable potion, add Night Vision at level 1 and 3600 seconds, and copy the result.

Java Edition and Bedrock Edition

The /give command works on Java 1.20.5 and newer. Bedrock commands cannot create custom potions, so in Bedrock mode the tool gives you the matching /effect commands, which apply the same effects directly.

Frequently asked questions

Can I make a potion that brewing cannot?

Yes. /give can put several effects, any level up to 127 and any length into one potion. That is why these potions suit maps, servers and creative worlds more than Survival.

What do the seconds mean?

They are the seconds the effect lasts when you drink the potion. The tool converts them into ticks for you.

What is the difference between splash and lingering potions?

A splash potion affects players nearby for a short time when it breaks. A lingering potion leaves a cloud that keeps applying the effect. Both give a shorter effect than a drinkable potion.

Why does my potion do nothing?

A potion with no effects only has the color. Add at least one effect, and check that the Java version in the tool matches yours.
