Works in:Java EditionBedrock EditionBuilt for Java 26.x and Bedrock 26.x

How the minecraft summon command generator works

Choose the mob, where it appears and what it should be like. A position of ~ ~ ~ means the spot where the command runs, and ~ ~1 ~ means one block above it. In Java mode you can switch on No AI, Silent, Invulnerable, Glowing, Never despawn and a custom name that shows above the head, and you can set exact health.

The tool writes the right format for your Java version. If you want several mobs at once, raise the How many box and the tool repeats the command on separate lines, which is useful for command blocks.

Worked example

A shopkeeper villager that stays put and cannot be hurt, in Java 1.21.5 or newer: /summon villager ~ ~ ~ {CustomName:"Shopkeeper",CustomNameVisible:1b,NoAI:1b,Silent:1b,Invulnerable:1b}.

Java Edition and Bedrock Edition

Bedrock /summon can set a name tag but cannot set NBT such as No AI, Silent or health, so those options only appear in Java mode. For Bedrock mobs that behave differently you need a behavior pack, or the /event command on mobs that support events.

Frequently asked questions

Why does my summoned mob disappear?

Mobs far from players despawn. In Java, switch on Never despawn. In Bedrock, a mob that has a name does not despawn.

How do I summon a mob that does not move?

Use No AI in Java. The mob will not move or attack. It can still be hurt unless you also tick Invulnerable.

Which IDs can I use?

Any mob or entity ID, such as zombie, creeper or armor_stand. The tool suggests common ones, and our ID list has more. Mob IDs are the same in both editions for almost every mob.

What does ~ ~ ~ mean?

The tilde means relative to where the command runs. ~ ~ ~ is the exact spot and ~ ~2 ~ is two blocks higher. Without tildes you give fixed X Y Z coordinates.
